How do I put it on?
Our claw clip is designed to be useable with or without an elastic. If you prefer, simply put your hair in a low/mid ponytail, or a small bun. Open the clip and clamp it over the base of your ponytail so the teeth grip your hair. The extension covers the clip completely. Tuck in any loose strands and you're good to go!
Will it work on fine or thin hair?
Yes! The Pony is designed to work the same way as a regular claw clip. It's actually easier than most extension products because the clip hugs around the base of your hair so it will not pull or tug, and it is completely camouflaged by the hair.
Will it lose its style?
No. The style is built in. After a day of wear, or a rinse, brush it and it goes right back into shape. One exception: if you heat style it, The Pony will hold the new shape you set instead, until you restyle it with heat.
Is it synthetic hair?
Yes, on purpose. The Pony is soft, frizz-free, and arrives pre-styled. It survives rain, gym bags, and goes back to new with a quick brush. Unfortunately, real hair can't make promises like that.
Can I use heat styling?
Good news! The Pony is heat-friendly. ☺️
For the safety of the hair, always keep your heat tools BELOW 280°F, and let each section cool before you touch it. Heat-friendly does not mean heat-proof, so skip the highest settings on your tools. We do not accept returns or provide refunds on heat-damaged products.
How do I wash it?
The Pony is made from a synthetic fibre so it does not need to be washed like regular hair. If it eventually starts to collect buildup or you accidentally get it dirty, rinse it under cool water, and work in a small amount of extremely mild shampoo (e.g. baby shampoo). Do not rub or wring it. Rinse until the water runs clear, pat it with a towel and let it air dry completely. Do not blow dry.
Can I use purple shampoo on it?
You can, but with a little extra care. Synthetic fibre picks up pigment more subtly than your own hair, but it can stain if the shampoo is applied directly. Instead, mix a pump or two into a large basin or bowl of lukewarm water. Make sure to submerge the hair and swish it through, separating the hair gently so the pigment spreads evenly. Keep a close eye on the tone, and rinse with cool water until the water runs clear. Please note, we do not accept returns once the hair has been washed.
How can I reduce shine even more?
A conservative mist of any colourless dry shampoo will take the shine down further. A small amount of loose setting powder works too: dust it on lightly with a brush, tapping off the excess first, then brush it through. Use a light hand with either, because if you go overboard, only washing will remove it.
